"I LOVE A PARADE!!!!!

Well, I just witnessed the Downey Fair Parade, the biggest event of the year that Downey has. I must say that it was a very good parade. Grandpa rode on the American Legion float. I had a ringside seat, I just took a chair out on the front step and watched it a couple of times. As it left down by the park and then as it ended out on the road in front of our house.

We have been enjoying the fruits of our labor from the garden. Grandpa has brought home squash, cucumbers, potatoes,and onions. It has been a very good garden so far. The corn will soon be ready and then the beans after that. We have really enjoyed everything so far.

The fair will continue down at the park for the rest of the week and there is going to be entertainment and things going on all of the time. I hope to get down one day and look at the entries in the homemaking departments, even though I don't do much sewing or crocheting any more.

Little Eric came down to see the parade from Pocatello and he came and visited with us for about an hour. My goodness he has grown, he is as tall as I am and is 15 years old and will start high school this fall. Sunrise, sunset, quickly go the days, I can't remember growing older, when did he and all of my other grandchildren and greatgrandchildres. Oh well, so much for my old age, I am going to try to enjoy it as long as I can.

Peggy said...: I check your blog almost every day so imagine my happiness to find a new blog entry this evening! Sounds like Downey is the happenin' place to be this week. Enjoy the parade! And enjoy the harvest! We are still waiting for a ripe tomato, but hopefully in a couple of days. We are enjoying the squash, zucchini, and cukes. That's about it.
